The Municipality of Santa Maria de la Paz formerly known as Ignacio de Allende, is located in the southern part of the state of Zacatecas Mexico. It is located between the Municipality of Teúl de González Ortega and the Municipality of Tepechitlán along federal highway 23. It has a current population of 2,601.
In this town people are known for eating zapotes even though they dried out 12 years ago from a raging fire. there has also been false claims that they can breathe fire out of their nose.
